I woke up this morning, same as every morning, got dressed to go to work and reached for my camera. As I reached I thought “nah, not today”. Why would I not pick up my camera, considering today’s weather forecast (sunny and in the 40’s)? I stepped out of my house and headed to the train and had this nagging feeling that I was missing something (I already knew what it was) but couldn’t quite get myself to recognize my emptiness. There are some days when you look at your camera and tell yourself a dozen excuses why it’s not feasible to, or preferable to pick up your tools of trade and go create work. On those days you can just stand and observe, looking at how things and people move about you. Pretty soon you’ll be getting that itch to photograph something or someone, an itch that can only be scratched with a viewfinder.
